Since loosing Sage to Colic, we could only assume he must have eaten some moldy hay that was left at the bottom of the feeder. So we spent some time yesterday cleaning all the old hay up and moving the feeder to a different location.
With everyone feeling a little sad, our five year old decided to lighten the mood by telling us the story of how Santa got her pony, Sugar, to her:
“Santa put the magic in her and hooked her up next to Rudolph. She flew around with Santa’s reindeer until he got to our house. Santa took the magic out her and tied her to my trampoline, left some carrots, and she waited for me.”
A child always has a way to bring a smile to your face and remind you not to get too serious about life.
Children learn that they make a mistake, they move on and try to remember in the future not to do that again.
We have never had a problem with horses eating bad hay, and we learned the hard way. We lost an incredibly great horse. But, we now know how to prevent it and to pay attention more.
Always listen to your children, they have impeccable insights on life.
